![]() ![]() Off the top of my head, I can't think of any standard military clothing items that were used without significant modification in Star Wars - even the blue RFT shirt, widely believed to be part of a Navy work uniform, has a unique front panel not seen on any real world uniform.With the rise of the New Order, the massive military buildup that became synonymous with the late Galactic Republic in an effort to combat the Separatist Alliance in the Clone Wars was continued and expanded in the now Galactic Empire. They're also very identifiable, which makes them harder to repurpose in a movie that's set in another place and time. Of all items, uniforms are by far the most common simply because everyone had to have them, and more than one set. Korea and Vietnam contributed some, but today most of the suppliers are selling direct to civilians and there's a relatively small true surplus market. WWII generated huge amounts of clothing, weapons, and tools that ended up in secondary markets. Between existing stock being depleted and particular items being identified as having collectible value for historic or prop replica value, it's not as easy as it used to be.
